Stop the Silent Thief
World Glaucoma Week

A weak dedicated to early detection, awareness and protecting sight from the silent thief.

What is
World Glaucoma Week?

World Glaucoma Week is an annual, worldwide campaign dedicated to:

– Raising awareness about glaucoma and its risks

– Encouraging people to get their eyes examined

– Sharing up-to-date knowledge with eye-care professionals

For India, this is especially important: a very high proportion of people with glaucoma don’t know they have it, which means the opportunity for early treatment is often missed.

How We Mark
World Glaucoma Week

At Centre for Sight, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, World Glaucoma Week is a busy, focused week of education and advocacy. Over the years, activities have included:

World Glaucoma Day CMEs (2017–2020)

Full-day and half-day academic programs for post-graduates and practising ophthalmologists.

Public webinars (since 2021)

Online sessions explaining risk factors, diagnosis, new treatments and patient questions.

Hands-on MIGS & glaucoma workshops (2023)

Ongoing effort to impart knowledge about new and innovative technologies to professionals.

Awareness campaigns & media engagement (2017 onwards)

Local TV segments, digital initiatives and print coverage during the week to reach patients and families.

Each year’s program aims to do two things: update doctors and empower patients with awareness.

Don’t ignore glaucoma

A press meet was held to raise awareness about glaucoma and the need for timely diagnosis and treatment. The discussion focused on preventing vision loss through screening, follow-ups, and proper care.
